About: Haiti Micah Project (HMP) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation established to support mission activities in Haiti, including the development of services and programs to serve Haiti’s impoverished children. HMP began in response to the challenges identified by the community leaders in Mirebalais, Haiti, a city located in the central plateau of Haiti. In October 2006, the Haiti Micah Project and our local partner in Mirebalais, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church began engaging the concrete needs of the streets and at-risk children. The project in Mirebalais is registered with the Haitian government under the name Solidarite et Action pour Les Enfants de Sion or Solidarity and Action for The Children of Zion. This program serves a population of children and young people that are living in extreme poverty. The money raised from this event will go to the ALMA BISHOP FUND for building an 80 bed orphanage.
Timing: RaceDC Timing (www.racedctiming.com) will provide timing via the ChronoTrack timing system will be used to score the race. The system will use a disposable B-tag (Bib-tag), which will be secured to each runners' bib number, and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line as well as the finish line, resulting in a net, or "Chip" time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on the Clock/Gun Time, and age group awards will be based on Chip/Net Time.
