Feeding & Grocery Distribution Program

Purpose

Help provide a safe, organized, and welcoming grocery distribution for individuals and families in our community experiencing food insecurity.

Volunteer Roles

Intake & Registration

  • Welcome clients and check them in.

  • Verify returning households and provide distribution numbers.

  • Share registration information with the church office.

Sorting & Packing

  • Organize produce, proteins, canned goods, and pantry items.

  • Pack grocery bags and boxes for distribution.

Distribution Team

  • Distribute groceries to clients.

  • Assist seniors and individuals with carrying groceries.

  • Help maintain an orderly and safe distribution flow.

Logistics & Setup

  • Set up tables, signage, and traffic flow.

  • Unload deliveries and prepare the distribution area.

Clean-Up Crew

  • Break down tables and equipment.

  • Sweep, sanitize surfaces, and dispose of boxes and other materials.

Volunteer Guidelines

  • Follow USDA food safety guidelines.

  • Wear gloves when handling produce.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.

  • Treat every client with dignity, respect, and confidentiality.

  • Report any spills, hazards, or safety concerns immediately.

Time Commitment

  • Typical distribution events last approximately 4 hours.

  • Volunteers may serve the entire event or sign up for 2-hour shifts.

  • Please arrive 30 minutes before distribution begins.

  • All volunteers must sign in upon arrival.

Communication & Recordkeeping

  • Volunteer reminders and updates are sent by email from admin@meadechurch.org.

  • Household attendance is recorded during each distribution.

  • Volunteer hours are tracked for service records.
