Eucharistic Ministers are trained and licensed by the Bishop to administer the consecrated wine during Holy Communion. Eucharistic Ministers can also be trained and licensed to administer the consecrated Holy Communion to parishioners who are homebound or in the hospital. They also read the Epistle (second lesson), and lead The Prayers of the People during the service. They assit the minister with any needs suring the service that may arise.
Lay Readers read the Old Testament (first) lesson and lead the psalm at Sunday services.
